CBD Isolate: What is it?

CBD isolate is a form of cannabidiol, a chemical compound found in the cannabis plant. The isolate is unique in that it does not contain any of the psychoactive elements of THC. Most CBD products contain small percentages of THC with the legal limit being 0.3%.

The isolate is the closest form to pure CBD. Manufacturers utilize a multitude of processes to extract all the other phytocannabinoids (including THC) from the cannabis plant leaving nearly 100% pure CBD in either crystal form or a powder as fine as confectioner’s sugar. If in crystal form, it is then ground into powder which allows for easier integration into products with no smell or taste (making it easier to consume).

Research has shown that CBD does not directly attach to, but rather affects bodily function receptors, such as appetite, memory, mood, and pain perception. This means CBD isolate has the potential to boost immune systems, fight inflammation, and reduce things like anxiety and pain. Studies have found that the possible basis behind CBD’s help with certain mental health disorders, is that it affects other non-cannabinoid receptors such as the serotonin receptor. Serotonin is one of the key neurotransmitters involved with depression, anxiety, and sleeping patterns.

In summary, CBD isolate is a low-risk substance, with fewer and milder side effects than many other medical ingredients.  It is pure and consistent, and therefore an excellent ingredient choice.  Something to think about when looking to use CBD products!
